Gemmo Rules
Last updated: 16 October 2026
Gemmo is a place where people in the UAE sell the things they no longer need to each other. These rules keep it honest, safe and pleasant. They are part of our Terms of Use.
1. What you can sell
Gemmo is for private people selling their own things: electronics, home appliances, furniture and interior, kids’ goods, clothing, shoes and accessories, sports and hobby gear, home and garden, beauty and health products, pet supplies and other items. The item must be in the UAE.
Gemmo is not for cars, real estate, jobs or services, and there are no “wanted” or “looking for” listings — to buy something, make an offer on a listing.
2. What is not allowed
Do not list anything that is prohibited or restricted by UAE law, and in particular:
- weapons of any kind, ammunition, replicas and parts, and explosives;
- drugs and narcotics, medicines and prescription products, and anything used to consume drugs;
- alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes and vapes;
- live animals;
- tickets, vouchers and travel packages;
- medical devices;
- sports nutrition and dietary supplements;
- counterfeit or replica goods, stolen goods and items you have no right to sell;
- adult and sexual content, gambling items, and anything that offends religion, public morals or UAE values;
- documents, IDs, licences, SIM cards, accounts, personal data, and money, gift cards or cryptocurrency;
- hazardous materials, recalled products and anything else unsafe.
Content that is illegal, hateful, violent, sexual, discriminatory or that breaks someone’s rights (including other people’s photos) is not allowed anywhere in Gemmo: in listings, profiles, chats or reviews.
3. Good listings
- One item per listing (or one set sold together), in the right category, with its true condition.
- Real photos of the item itself — from 1 to 10. No stock images, screenshots of other listings or pictures with someone else’s watermark.
- An honest title and description. Mention defects.
- The real price in AED, or mark the item as free. No fake prices to attract attention.
- No duplicates. Do not post the same item several times.
- A listing stays active for 30 days. You can have up to 100 active listings. When the item is sold, mark the listing as sold.
Every listing is checked by a moderator before it appears in the feed. We may decline a listing that breaks these rules; you can fix it and send it again.
4. Talking to people
- Be polite. No insults, threats, harassment, hate speech or sexual messages.
- Talk about the item. No spam, advertising or mass messages.
- Make real offers you are ready to keep. Do not flood sellers with offers.
- Respect “no”. If someone has blocked you, do not contact them from another account.
- Meet in a public place and check the item before you pay.
5. Fraud
Do not send or ask for prepayment, and do not follow external links from strangers. Never share the login code you receive in WhatsApp or by SMS, your passwords or your card details. Gemmo never asks for them.
It is not allowed to deceive other users in any way: fake items or photos, asking for advance payment or deposits, “delivery service” or payment links, phishing, pretending to be Gemmo, a moderator or another person, or using several accounts. Report fraud in the app at once.
6. Reviews and profiles
- Leave reviews only about real contacts with the seller and write them honestly. Reviews are checked by a moderator before they are published.
- Use your real name or a nickname. Do not put phone numbers, links or contacts in your name, and do not pretend to be Gemmo, its support or another person.
- Use a profile photo that does not break these rules.
7. Reporting and blocking
If something breaks these rules, tap Report on the listing (in the listing or in the “⋯” menu in the feed) or in the chat menu, and choose a reason: fraud or prepayment, prohibited item, wrong price or description, item already sold, or other. The seller does not see who sent the report. Our moderators review every report.
You can also block a user: they will not be able to message you, and their listings will be hidden from your feed and search. You can unblock them in Settings.
8. If the rules are broken
Moderators decline listings and reviews that break these rules. For breaking the rules there is one sanction: we block the account. A blocked account cannot sign in, its listings are hidden from everyone, and a new account cannot be created with the same phone number, Apple or Google account or device.
If you think we made a mistake, write to support@gemmo.ae and tell us how you signed in. A moderator will review the decision and can lift the block.
